OCRI Zone5 Marketing Forum – Social Media

Natasha D’Souza just pinged me to let me know about an upcoming event from OCRI that she’s participating in (a Zone5 event). Here is a brief description:

“If you are like many organizations, you have likely begun to add some elements of social media to your marketing tactics. But how do you leverage these new channels to truly engage customers in meaningful conversations, and to gather and respond to market feedback?

In this Zone5ive session, you will learn how to use Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and Blogs to listen to and engage your audience, and to build your own online community using open source tools and hosted services.”

Bluefest harnesses social media with Favequest

Ottawa Bluesfest just recently wrapped up, having had great band, large crowds, and this year, a greater social media connection. An Ottawa startup Favequest created an interactive web portal for Bluesfest that aggregates youtube videos of the performers so that interested fans could get a taste both known and unknown acts. The portal also integrated the capability for people to personalize calendars for which shows they wanted to see, and to be able to pass on notifications to friends about the acts.

Bluesfest saw a three fold increase in time spent by people on the website, all thanks to employing social media and making content easier to view and share. Social Media Marketing – Friday June 26th

“Social Media Marketing” is a workshop hosted by the OCRI e2 Program which runs on Friday June 26th . The session will be delivered by session leaders Natasha D’Souza, and Rick Radko, and our very own Scott Lake, of ThinkSM.

The workshop runs from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm on June 26th , and includes a lunch service – It is no charge for e2 Alumni, and a special (subsidized) price of $195 for others interested in applying Social Media Marketing to create business growth.
