Find the Best Shopping Deals using your iPhone & Gazaro

If you’re looking for a great iPhone app this holiday season, then you need to check out the Gazaro App. We’ve written about Gazaro before and how they help you find the best shopping deals and notify you of sales as they happen in real-time (or at least close enough). With the release of their iPhone app, you’ll have the power of knowing if something is a good deal in the palm of your hands.

Imagine the following scenario: You’re in a store and spot a great camera. You want to buy it… but, before you do, you use your iPhone and the Gazaro app to take a picture of the bar code. Gazaro tells you that the sale that you’re witnessing is not so great after all. The price of the same camera was $10 lower two weeks ago. Bummer. Good news, though, is that you can head on over a few blocks down and get the same camera for an even better price. Done deal :)

The Gazaro iPhone app was built in collaboration with another local startup: Select Start Studios.

Black Friday – How do you Know You’re Getting a Good Deal?

Let’s be realistic… whether it’s Black Friday or Boxing Day, how do you really know that you’re getting a good deal on something? How do we know that good old stores don’t raise prices the week before these two “shopper-friendly” days and then just slash them by 50% – making us believe that they are blessing us with the sale of all sales? “Hope” was our best bet until local startup Gazaro came along :) As you know, Gazaro has an intelligent tracking system that monitors the prices of items throughout time so you can tell if the price for a product is a good deal or just an impostor. For more info, check out this recent Blog Article from the Gazaro Guys: Black Friday: Are you REALLY saving that much?

Gazaro at Demo 2009

The Demo conference is probably the best place to launch your product/service to the world. Demo 2009 just ended and Ottawa had good representation there from local startup Gazaro. Gazaro founder, Sam Zaid, does a fantastic job at presenting what Gazaro is all about. Check out the video for yourself!

Ottawa startup, Gazaro @ TechCrunch 50

In case you were wondering if Ottawa had any demoing companies at TechCrunch50 (demo-pit), the answer is yes. Gazaro is a local startup incubated by Apption.

Gazaro is all about finding the biggest sales on the internet. The team has a proprietary crawler that keeps track of a large number of online stores and flyers and will flag sales upon occurrence. If you are signed up for the service, you can either get an email or just subscribe to an RSS feed to get notified of sales that are relevant to you.

I’ve been trying out Gazaro for a while and it truly does make you aware of great deals that you’d never otherwise hear about. The whole process is completely unobtrusive since I have a Gazaro RSS feed that I check whenever I’m reading my blogs.

Gazaro is the brainchild of Sam Zaid & Dr. Paul Lem. Dom Plouffe (formerly of FuseTalk is the lead architect).
