Startup Nation – Startup Conference!
Our friends at StartupNorth recently announced that they are organizing Canada’s first true StartUp Conference on November 13th and 14th called StartupNation. It sounds like a great idea and should be fun to attend. Here is a blurb from the website:

With the best of intentions the folks at StartupNorth named their event “StartupNation”, which they didn’t know infringes on a registered trademark owned by our company, StartupNation.

The StartupNorth folks are working on renaming their event currently. My hope is that this comment helps remove confusion in the marketplace.

We have been informed that our usage of the name does not infringe on the registered trademark. We have decided to alter the name of the event to StartEmpire because we are in early days.
